Luis A. Zapata Sr.

Luis Alfonso Zapata, age 83, passed away in Silver Spring, Maryland on June 10, 2024.

Born July 10, 1940 in the Dominican Republic to Jaime Marizan and Paula Zapata, Luis began his journey through life. He had obtained his associate's degree and worked at the Howard Johnson Motel until retiring in 2002. Luis enjoyed playing dominos and was also a member of the Iglesia Episcopal. He always had a positive aptitude towards life.

Luis is survived by his three children; Elizabeth Sonora, Luis Alfonso Zapata Jr, and Lilian Vargas, grandchildren; Steven Zapata, Scarlett Medina, Stephany Vargas, Stacy Vargas, Kimberly Sonora, Kaitlyn Zapata, Ashley Sonora, Daniel Zapata and Lismary Zapata, and siblings; Oscar Marizan, Jaime Marizan, and Dolorita Marizan. Luis was preceded in death by his spouse of 60 years; Martina Alvarado de Zapata, and parents; Jaime Marizan and Paula Zapata.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the visitation and prayer service on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD 20707. Burial will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 11:30am at Parklawn Memorial Park, 12800 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, MD 20853.
