Marcia K. Philblad, beloved wife for 53 years of James R. Philblad, passed away at home on Sunday, November 2, 2014. Marcia was born on October 31, 1939 and was raised in Knoxville, Illinois. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1957 and attended the Galesburg Cottage Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a registered nurse in 1960. She worked as a nurse at the University of Illinois, Prince George's County General Hospital, and Laurel Regional Hospital retiring in 1996. She was a resident of West Laurel for 47 years.
One of Marcia's greatest joys was spending time with her family and friends. She loved supporting her grandchildren in all of their activities, playing games, reading, gardening, hosting tea parties, traveling and writing poems. She found great pleasure volunteering at a nursing home. Marcia touched the lives of everyone she met with her desire to serve and to make others happy. She had a true love of life with an amazing level of energy.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Sherrill Randall and Mildred Wyman Randall Hunt; mother-in-law Helen Staggs Philblad Gehring; sisters Elizabeth Pitts and her husband Walter, Bea Miller and her husband Harold, Norma Randall and sister-in-law Ann Philblad. In addition to her husband Jim, Marcia is survived by her children Steve Philblad, Jackie Basinger and her husband Jeff; grandchildren Christopher Philblad and his fiancAC.e Robbie Jean Hartwell, JB Basinger, Brittany Basinger and Brooke Basinger; great grandson Ryan Hartwell; sister Sherry Ingram and her husband Jim, brother Charles Randall and his wife Bonnie, brother-in-law Charles Philblad; and numerous nieces and nephews.
