Margaret Anne Crane McLaughlin, known as Peggy, was born March 22nd 1942 in Jersey City New Jersey. She passed away on April 4th, 2024 in Crofton, MD. She was the daughter of Edward and Margaret Crane. Peggy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dr. John McLaughlin of Laurel, her sons Brian (Jennifer), and Matt (Leslie), and her grandchildren Aidan, Molly, Grace, and Kate. She was the sister of Carol and Kevin Crane.

Peggy graduated from St. Peter’s University in 1968 with a degree in education. After graduation she moved to Maryland and began teaching in the Prince George’s County school system in 1969. She finished her career at St. Mary of the Mills School having taught 4th grade there for almost 20 years. Peggy was a devoted wife and mother and had a passion for teaching young children. She loved children’s literature, watching thunderstorms on summer afternoons, making a comfortable home, hosting company at her dining room table, and canceling homework for her students every time the Redskins won. She is deeply loved by her family and will be missed.

Services will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. 313 Talbott Ave. Laurel, MD 20707 on Friday April 12th. Viewing will begin at 4:00pm with a service at 5:00pm. The burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Laurel. In place of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Children’s National Hospital.
