Marta Myroslana Hnatyshyn, 63, of Laurel, Maryland passed peacefully into Eternal life on January 8, 2024. Visitation will be on Monday, January 15, at 5 p.m. to be followed by a Parastas at 6:30 p.m. at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, Maryland. The Pohoron (funeral) will be at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17, at Holy Trinity Particular Ukrainian Catholic Church, 16631 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland, followed by interment at St. Andrews Ukrainian Cemetery, 240 Main Street, South Bound Brook, New Jersey 08880. Marta was born to Janina and Myroslav on January 28, 1960, in Norwalk, Connecticut. Her family moved to Laurel, Maryland in 1966 where she lived out her life with five younger siblings in the full traditions of her parents’ Ukrainian homeland. Bilingual in Ukrainian and English; she enjoyed the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and associated functions, animals, movies, art, dancing and bowling.
Marta is survived by: her brothers, Roman Hnatyshyn of Baltimore, Zenon Hnatyshyn of Laurel, Taras Hnatyshyn and his wife, Dana, of Severna Park, and niece Catherine and nephew Hunter; her sisters, Irma Lyszyk and her husband, Andriy, of Laurel; Mira Hudson and her husband, Neff, of San Antonio, and two nieces, Nina Hudson and Lila Hudson; and a dear uncle, Bolesław Wojtowicz and his wife Lucyna; and cousin, Monika, in Przemyśl, Poland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marta's name to the Holy Trinity Particular Ukrainian Catholic Church, 16631 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20905.
