The family of Martin A. Flemion, Jr. wishes to express their gratitude to relatives and friends for their acts of kindness at the time of his death. The many expressions of sorrow and support continue to help us process the grief and celebrate his life. A special thanks to Pastor Kevin McGee and members of Bethany Community Church for handling the services, the Mayor and City Council and staff of the City of Laurel for their endless support of our family, the Laurel Police Department for the funeral procession escort, the Laurel Public Works Department for addressing the weather conditions, the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary for serving the lunch, the many who gave cards, beautiful flowers and memorials and to Jay Donaldson of Donaldson's Funeral Home for his understanding, care, guidance and coordination of the funeral service. Beloved Husband of 66 years
Survived by his wife Regina M. Flemion; Daughters, Regina M. Dean and Jacqueline DeGroot and Son, Martin A. Flemion III; grandchildren, Carol Ann Bissett, John Thomas Dean, Traci L. Carter, Jeffrey Martin Miller, Kimberly Duff, Martin A. Flemion IV, and great grandchildren Rebecca & Luke Carter, Brian, Jason and Mark Dean, Ashley and Sidney Flemion & Martin Arthur Flemion V. Also survived by brothers Philip D. Flemion, Gerald Flemion, Merlin J. Flemion and Sisters Virginia Willey and Mary Sue Rodes. He is predeceased by his parents Martin A. Flemion Sr. and Hazel P. Flemion and his brother Ronald Flemion.
Martin began his work career as a Washington Post newspaper delivery boy and at Peoples Drug Store. He worked at the B & O Railroad; and in the evenings, as an usher at the Home Theater in Washington D.C. He went on to work at the Department of Immigration and Naturalization Services. His career took him to the Central Intelligence Agency from which he retired. In his retirement, he worked at USIS Professional Services Division as security staff.
He loved golfing and scored 2 holes in one at the Sterling Golf Course where he was a lifetime member. He is predeceased by two of his lifetime foursome.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Bethany Community Church, 15720 Riding Stable Road, Laurel, MD. Interment immediately following at Fort Lincoln Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Capital Caring Resource, Development Department, 2900 Telestar Court Falls Church, VA 22042.
