Mary Elizabeth Constable

Mary Elizabeth Constable, age 82, of Laurel, MD passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Morningside House of Laurel. Mary was born on May 7, 1942 in Washington, DC, to the late Marvin Eugene and Madeline (Holt) Constable. Upon graduation from Anacostia High School in 1960, Mary attended American University and worked at her father’s bakery until entering employment with the United States Department of Labor in 1963 until her retirement in 2010. During this time, she was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Laurel where she was involved in many ministries including teaching Bible studies, singing in the choir and serving as church treasurer. Mary enjoyed taking pictures and was known as the “family photographer”, creating albums of cherished memories for all her family members. She also loved baking (always brought the dessert to special occasions), painting ceramics, Christmas crafting and reading her Bible. Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brother, George M. Constable. She is survived by her sister Patricia A. Zack of Laurel, MD, sister-in-law Chris Constable of Hagerstown, MD, six nephews and one niece: Robert Zack (Cindy) of Bedford, PA; David Zack (Carole) of Woodstock, GA; Darrell Zack (May), of Richmond Hill, GA; Kerry Zack (Lauree) of Orlando, FL; Kirk Zack (Barbara) of Laurel, MD; Keith Constable (Elizabeth) of Austin, TX; and Keri Churchey (Donald); six grandnephews, ten grandnieces, eight great-grandnephews and four great-grandnieces.

A memorial for Mary will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. located at 313 Talbot Avenue, Laurel, MD with a visitation an hour prior. In lieu of flowers, donations to SidebySideLaurel.org would be appreciated.
