Mary Jane Foster

Mary Jane Foster (Janie), 85, passed from this Earth on Friday, January 16, 2025 with loved ones surrounding her. She was born in Howard County Maryland on March 2, 1940, to William and Dorothy Grimes in the same house she was raised in. Janie was the third of 4 children, 3 girls and 1 boy.

She attended Scaggsville Elementary, Clarksville Middle and Howard High Schools. Janie worked as a server for many years.

She leaves behind her 6 children, James Kessler, Ellen Green (Jeffrey), Barbara Kulm (Daniel), Carol Terhaar (Jeffrey), Gary Foster and Darrin Foster (Lisa). Janie also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and the love of her life, Stephen Foster. Janie was originally from Howard County MD. She married Steven Foster on January 12, 1972. Steven and Janie moved to California in 1982 where they built and ran a roofing company. They returned to Maryland in 2003, where Steve passed in 2018.

Janie loved being around her family and was always very lucky at the casino! She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Family and friends will honor Janie’s life with a service at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., at 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD at 11am on Saturday, January 24th.
