Mary R. Keeney

Mary Roberta Keeney, 96, died of natural causes on February 7, 2014 at Arden Courts Assisted Living Facility in Silver Spring, Maryland. Her husband Nelson L. Keeney predeceased her in July 1997. Ms. Keeney, born in Amissville, Virginia and was the daughter of Martha Nay and James Freeman. She is survived by her daughter Shirley Keeney who resides in Florida, and two sisters, Cornelia Knight in Florida and Virginia Windsor in Maryland. She worked most of her life in retail sales of hardware and clothing including Sears and Roebuck in Hyattsville, MD and The Hecht Company in Laurel, MD.

She has resided in Laurel, MD for the past 20 years. She enjoyed taking care of her house and yard during retirement years. She was very energetic and walked every day to nearby shopping places and McDonalds. The neighbors loved her and have missed her walking on the neighboring streets and often ask about her. She entered Arden Courts Assisted Living Facility in March of 2011 and remained there until her passing.

A visitation will be held at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 beginning at 10:00 AM and continuing until the service begins at 11:00 AM. Burial at Ivy Hill Cemetery immediately following the service.
