Mary Jane Maxwell of Ocean City Maryland left this earth on Wednesday November 2, 2022 with her daughter and son at her side. She was 86 years old. She is survived by daughter Teresa Spinks, son Michael Barry wife Lyn , and granddaughter Amanda Spinks.
Mary Jane was born in Danbury Connecticut January 10, 1936. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents Franklin Lewis Kerwin and Florence Kerwin (Bigham), the love of her life Thomas Patrick Maxwell and her long time companion Curtis Dodson.
The family would like to thank all of the friends and neighbors who watched over Mary Jane as her illness progressed and the staff at Morningside House of Ellicott City for loving her as their own. The family is grateful to Ghilchirst Hospice of Howard County for making her last days comfortable.
Mary Jane graduated nursing school from Kings Daughter's Hospital in Martinsburg WV. She worked at George Washington University Hospital in Washington DC and found her true passion as a Prince Georges County Public Health Nurse. Mary Jane lived her life volunteering and giving back to the the community. She started a new chapter in her life when she retired and moved from Beltsville, Maryland to Ocean City Maryland where she had new places to enjoy and volunteer. Mary Jane enjoyed volunteering at St Luke's Church activities, Montego Bay Civic Association and Ocean City Play It Safe program for graduating seniors. She enjoyed spending time with friends at the Ocean City Knight's of Columbus and Elks. She loved to knit and needle point. Mary Jane loved the beach life and companionship of all her friends and family. Beach life gave her family the opportunity to spend lots of time with her in Ocean City. She enjoyed going to Ocean Downs to watch the horse races and the casino with Terri. Amanda spent many summers attending camps and boardwalk excursions with "Mugga" the name Amanda chose for her She was the Pit Crew Chief for Mike and shared his love for the need for speed at the Racetracks! Mary Jane's love for life, family and friends allowed her to live her life just the way she wanted. That brings peace and comfort to all those who know and love her.
