Mary Ann Merson

Mary Ann Merson, 88, of Midlothian, VA died February 6, 2017.  She was born in Dorchester County, MD on April 13, 1928 to Charles W. and Laura Jane (Messick) Hastings.  She moved to Laurel, MD in her early teens and was a graduate of Laurel High School.    She had a long career in banking starting with State Bank and retired as a Branch Manager with Bank of America.  She was an accomplished artist and also enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting.

She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Norman (Bud) Merson.  She is survived by daughter Pat Whisnant (Miller), son Gary Merson (Linda), grandchildren Nicole Hurst (Chris), Matthew Merson (Anuschka), Megan Portelos (Matt), and great grandchildren Ryan Hurst, Hunter Merson, and Anya Merson.  Visitation will be Feb. 10 from 4 to 7 PM at Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD.  Funeral services will be held on Feb 11 at 11 AM at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, Laurel with burial at Ivy Hill Cemetery.   Memorials may be made to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 522 Main St., Laurel, MD 20707 or to the Laurel Historical Society, 817 Main St., Laurel, MD 20707.
