Mary Dennis Shaffer

Mary Dennis Shaffer, of Jessup, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024. She was 89 years old. Born on July 12, 1935 to Walter and Barbara Dennis, Mary was a lifelong resident of Maryland.

She devoted most of her working life to childcare, enriching the lives of the many children lucky enough to be guided and taught by her. She was also a longtime member of Alberta Gary United Methodist Church.

Mary loved to take care of people. If you visited her house, you were not going to leave hungry. On the holidays, she always made enough food to feed anyone in the neighborhood that needed a meal. She always had treats for the kids. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was proud of them all. She had a group of children she helped raise. She loved when they would come back to visit and share what was going on in their lives.

She is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Larry Dillard; Children Paul Keplinger, Jr., Dana Foxwell, and Dennis Keplinger; beloved Grandchildren Kevin Keplinger, Brian Keplinger, Aimee Mata, Dennis Keplinger Jr., Rachel Nguyen, Shelby Keplinger, and Josh Keplinger; Preceded in death by Brothers Walter, Milton, Norman, Kenneth, and Phillip. Additionally, Mary leaves behind many dear friends.

Visitation hours will be at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. on Tuesday, August 13 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm. A funeral will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. on Wednesday, August 14 at 11am. Burial to follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
