Melissa "Missy" Jacobs passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in celebrating a life filled with laughter, creativity, compassion, and unconditional love.
Born on December 17, 1968, in Pensacola, Florida, Melissa was the beloved daughter of Edward Bertot and the late Lois Bertot. She carried a caring spirit, deep strength, and a warmth that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Melissa was above all else, a devoted mother to her son, Sebastian. She was also a gifted and talented artist who loved to sing, act, cook and be creative. She was a lover of animals and nature and held a special place in her heart for horses, dogs, rabbits and owls. For the past four years, she worked as an Office Manager for a mental health company, MSA, based in Columbia, MD, where she formed close relationships with an amazing group of coworkers.
Melissa's love, laughter, and warm spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Melissa is survived by her husband, Kris Jacobs and her son, Sebastian Jacobs of Bloomington, IN, her father and stepmother, Edward and Susan Bertot, and her siblings, Miechelle Bertot Galloway of Ellicott City, MD, Meredith Wood of Winter Haven, FL, Ashley Berry of Midlothian, VA and J’Amie Verduin of Marquette, MI. She was a loving, caring aunt to her nephews and niece, who held a very special place in her heart.
Melissa was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Bertot and brother, Edward F. Bertot Jr., and grandparents Zeff and Lola Lazarus and Antonio and Elena Bertot.
A private family burial will be held in Pensacola, FL where Melissa will be laid to rest alongside her mother, grandmother and beloved dog, Unie.
