Michelle Martin (Micki) Moore

Michele Martin Moore, 72 of Laurel, MD passed away on June 24, 2018 at Howard County General Hospital. Micki as she was known to family and close friends was born in Washington D.C. March 11, 1946 to Richard Martin and Eleanor Peters Martin. Micki attended Indian Head Methodist Church as a youth and she graduated from Lackey High School, Indian Head, MD in 1964. After high school she graduated from Strayer Business College and then worked in various administrative jobs in the Washington D.C area. Her favorite jobs at that time were for an inventor of children’s games and Naval Research Laboratory. After living in Seaside CA for a short period Micki moved back to Maryland and resided in the Laurel area until her death. She worked for the University of Maryland and attended classes part time until she eventually received a Bachelor of Arts degree. She retired from the university after decades in various departments, her favorite being involved with exchange programs with Poland. Micki enjoyed cooking, cats and dogs, and gardening. She worked for the famous Behnkes Nursery in Beltsville MD part time for many years. She was very interested in genealogy and loved family get togethers. She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her brother Larry (Beth) Martin of Indian Head MD and numerous cousins. Interment will be private at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors or Fidos for Freedom, Laurel, MD.
