Mildred M. Dennis

Mildred Dennis was born July 19, 1924 to the union of Jake and Sadie Plater and raised in Washington, D.C. by her aunt Maggie Hooper.
Mildred attended public schools in Washington, D.C. and completed her studies at John Hay High School in Cleveland, OH.
While living in Washington, D.C., Mildred met Floyd Dennis and was united in holy matrimony.
Mildred worked for Navy Finance, I.R.S. and DFAS of the Federal Government until her retirement. During her retirement she worked at the Higbee's Department.
Mildred was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Congregational Church, UCC, since it was built on Magnolia Drive by the D.W. Rankin Construction Company, Floyd Dennis, her husband's company that he worked for until his retirement.
She became active in the Chancel Choir, Women's Fellowship and the Chancel Choir, Women's Fellowship and the Mt. Zion Jr. League. Mildred enjoyed memberships in the Sorrels Social Club, Couples Club and the Laurel Friendship Sr. Club, which she joined when she moved to Laurel, MD to live near her son Malcolm.
Mildred thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, gods children and friends. Mildred also loved travelling and shopping.
On Wednesday, July 23, 2013 Mildred peacefully went home to be with the Lord. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Floyd Dennis, Mildred's extraordinary love, care and heart of gold will be missed by all those she touched and extended her loving hand to. Mildred leaves to cherish her memory her son, Malcolm C. Morris, daughter-in-law Zaida Morris, 3 granddaughters; Karen, Vanessa and Crystal; grandson Keith Morris, The Honorable Michael R. White, Danielle Jackson, Angela Miller, Xavier Miller and a host of nieces and nephews.
