On Friday, August 26, 2016, Mildred Louise Wilkie passed away, peacefully, at home with her loved ones by her side. Mrs. Wilkie was born August 9, 1935 in Purcellville, VA and became a lifelong resident of Laurel, MD. Mrs. Wilkie retired from the Maryland Jockey Club with a career over 47 years. She was a member of St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church.

Mildred is survived by her daughters Brenda L. Nardone and Goldie Wilkie Leizear; brother Ralph Painter and sister Ellenor Bush. She is also survived by seven loving grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Robert F. and Goldie V. Painter; her beloved husband John R. Wilkie, Jr.; her son Kenneth D. Brookman, Jr.; her granddaughter Alisha L. Strickland; her brother Charles L. Painter, Sr. and her sister Shirley Courtney.

A visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9, on Tuesday August 30, at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Ave., Laurel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, 10:30 am, at St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church, 114 St. Mary’s Place, Laurel. Interment will be in Ivy Hill Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church.
