It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Millicent (Millie) R. Hurlbut who passed on January 24, 2024.
Millie was born on July 30, 1946 in Washington, D.C. to Roy G. and Lena L. Hudnall. She lived her entire life in DC and Maryland and will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her cross-stitch, rum pie, love of line dancing, and her Dept. 56 Christmas Village. She loved animals and was a fierce proponent of “adopt don’t shop”.
Millie was a professional who worked hard and achieved her Bachelors degree when she was 35 years old. She worked in membership and marketing throughout her career and retired from the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) in 2017.
Her best moments, and what made her the happiest, came as a mother, and gramma to her two grandsons, Colin and Chris. She was a woman that always put others first and made sure that everyone was taken care of, before thinking of herself.
Milie is preceded in death by her mother, father, and sister, Joanne Acker. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Paul J. Hurlbut; daughter and son-in law, Mary and Dave Floyd; grandsons Colin and Christopher; niece Cheryl Mallett and nephew Ricky Acker; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Millie will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, Maryland 20707. A funeral mass will occur February 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Ascension Catholic Church, 12700 Lanham Severn Rd, Bowie, MD 20720. Internment will be private.
