Nancy Joan Capps

Nancy Joan Helmick Capps, 78, of Laurel, Maryland passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, in Laurel, following an extended illness.
Nancy was born June 30, 1935 in Elkins, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Ralph Helmick and Zara Helmick Elliott.
Nancy and her family moved to Washington, D.C. when she was a young girl, but Nancy remained a country girl at heart. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Capps, her granddaughter Jamie Leigh Bainer, sister Lois Evens, Stepfather Tom Elliott, and her faithful four-legged companion Candy.
Surviving Nancy are her children Steven Bainer (Karen) of Fayetteville, WV, Lynn Buckholdt (Ken) of Laurel, Md, Lori Huffstetler (John) of Silver Spring, Md, Tim Bainer (Joanne) of Annapolis, Md and William Capps (Brenda) of Laurel, Md. Eight (8) grandchildren and eleven (11) great-grandchildren, brother Mike Helmick (Tina) of Hampstead, Md, sister Karen Helmick of Florida and dear friend Peggy Baily of Silver Spring, Md.
Nancy loved her family and enjoyed trips with them to the beach, the campground and the mountains of WV. Nancy was employed as an office manager for many years by McGreagor-Werner of Washington, D.C. but retired from KenWill Graphics of Silver Spring Md.
Services will be officiated by Pastor Jeff Jones of Liberty Grove United Methodist Church.
The family is being served by Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. in Laurel, Maryland and will receive friends on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. in the funeral home chapel. Funeral will follow immediately. Burial will follow in Washington National Cemetery, Suitland, Md.
