Nevamay O. (Orton) Sanders

Nevamay Orton Sanders, 93, long time resident of Burtonsville, MD, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in her residence at Morningside House, Laurel, MD. She was born in Michigan on May 16, 1923, to Kenneth and Clara Orton. She later moved to Washington, DC, where she served in the US Navy and met and married her late husband, James C. Sanders. One son, Dan Sanders also preceded her in death.
Nevamay is survived by two sons, James "Steve" Sanders and wife Bette Anne and Ken Sanders and wife Jaimi; four daughters, Linda and husband Michael Bell, Suzanne and husband Gary Appelbaum, Julie and late husband Alan Jenkins, Margo and husband Mark Smith and a daughter-in-law, Becky and husband Jim German. She was a loving grandmother to 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition, she has one living sister, Barbara Youderian and two brothers, George Orton and wife Mary Ann and Jim Orton.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Donaldson Funeral Home PA, 313 Talbott Ave., Laurel, MD 20707. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm in the Chapel of the funeral home following visitation. The graveside service will be held the same afternoon at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.
