Noreen L. Weidner

Noreen Lucia Weidner, 91, passed away on May 10, 2020.  She was survived by her husband of 67 years, David Weidner, 92, her son, David Weidner (and wife Peggy) of Maryland, two grandchildren, Nicholas and Daniel Weidner of Maryland and daughters, Susan Weidner of Virginia and Becky Weidner of Maryland.

Noreen, born in Reading, PA, was the daughter of the late Lillie (Lucia) and Harold Schildt.  Noreen was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara (Lucia) Church and a son-in-law, Carl Schoettler.  She was a graduate of Reading High School and worked at The Anne Lucia Shop in Reading, owned and run by many of her aunts and where her mother was a buyer.  She was an avid Frank Sinatra fan and saw him perform in Reading when she was a teen.  After marrying, she later moved with her family to Baltimore County and eventually settled in Columbia, MD for 40+ years.  She worked for many years at the Columbia Association’s The Other Barn where she made many dear friends. She was a voracious reader; her morning ritual was pouring over the Washington Post and New York Times and she was a frequent visitor to the library and loved books of all types. She loved nature, visits to the zoo and museums, going to the movies and out to eat (although she was a wonderful cook), hunting down finds and bargains at antique stores and spending time with her family.  Noreen had a kind, loving and compassionate spirit and will be deeply missed.

There will be a private interment at Laureldale Cemetery, Reading, PA.  Please omit flowers.  Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
