Olivia Braxton

September 26, 1939 — May 26, 2020

Olivia “Debbie” Braxton of Laurel, MD passed away quietly at home at the age of 80 on 26th of May 2020 after putting up a good fight against a tough illness.

She was born 26th of September 1939 to Harry Lee Scott and Odelia Scott in Enfield NC.

“Miss Debbie”, as she was affectionately called by the staff and children, retired from the University for Tots Daycare after +20 years in 2015, but not really.  Always wanting to be near her “Be`Be` Kids” she continued to make that her daily activity as a volunteer until illness wouldn’t allow her.

Olivia enjoyed talking and being around people, listening to music - especially the “oldies”, word search puzzles, watching television, decorating, traveling and going places, playing casino slot machines with her “hot 20”, taking care of and engaging with children at the daycare and just having fun. Sometimes all she wanted to do was just drive her car or just be driven; it didn’t matter where - just drive!  Though cooking wasn’t her idea of fun, she loved to shop for a good pork shoulder, so she could whip up some good barbeque and chase it down with an ice cold Pepsi!

She is survived by her son Garlando Scott and wife Andrea, daughter Sheila Berry and partner Anna, and son Samuel Braxton Jr.; her brother William Scott and wife Thomasine; grandchildren Thomas, Keleeba, Timothy, Dajannay and Lorren; great-grandchildren Daphni, Sydney, Akiya, Thomas, Marley, Lainee, Mehki, Alani, DJ, Isaiah; niece Mia Scott; cousins (like sisters) Carolyn Watson and Chloe “Baby Sis” Ellis and a multitude of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband and military veteran, Samuel Braxton who passed away in 1992.
