Othniel V. Drew

Othniel “Buddy” Vickery Drew was born in Presque Isle, Maine on October 20, 1927. He passed away on June 18, 2016, in Laurel, Maryland, at the age of 88.

Buddy was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was known for his friendly personality and great generosity to his family, friends, church, and community.

One of seven children, Buddy grew up with his siblings on idyllic Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. As a young man, he joined the United States Air Force in 1947. His service took him overseas, but also led him to meet his beloved wife, Marjorie Jane Brown in the District of Columbia. On June 6, 1953, they were married and together they raised four children in Laurel. After retiring from the military, Buddy had a long career with the railroad in Washington, DC.

Buddy enjoyed spending time with his family, making new friends, and helping his community through volunteer service and individual acts of kindness. He was also a committed member of the St. Mary of the Mills Catholic congregation in Laurel.

Buddy was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie and son Laurence Drew. He is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law: Donna & Majid Rahmani, Terri  & Jerry Turner, and Christine & Jim Stossel; his grandchildren: Christopher Rahmani, Roxana Rahmani, Candice Shaffer, Jessica Stossel, and Rachel Stossel; and his great-granddaughter Eve Rahmani.
