Patricia Ann Barger

Patricia Ann Barger passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in her home in Maryland City.  Mrs. Barger was born in Cumberland, MD on October 31, 1931 to the late John Morris and Olive (Stafford) Morris.  Her siblings include the survived Sarah Athey of Cumberland, MD, Gary Witt of New Market, MD and the late James Morris of Ridgely, WV, Mary Alderton of Cumberland, MD, and Maxine Spangler of Cumberland, MD. She graduated from Fort Hill High School (Cumberland, MD) in 1951.

Patricia married Golden C. Barger (Joby) on September 16, 1951 at Mt. Hermon Methodist Church in Cumberland, Maryland. Golden passed away in 1988; her son, Steven F. Barger, shortly passed the following year. Patricia is survived by four children, Gregory L. Barger of Clarksville, MD, Cathy A. Hohl of Laurel, MD, David T. Barger of Frederick, MD and James E. Barger of Severn, MD. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, whom she loved and adored.

Patricia worked as dental assistant for the practice of Dr. Eli and Jeff Chyatte. Previously, she worked as a cafeteria attendant at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab in Clarksville, MD. She was a very active member of the Maryland City Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary for 30 plus years and held numerous positions, best known for her love of organizing fundraisers. She also attended Community United Methodist Church of Maryland City where she assisted with youth group, bible study, and the United Methodist Women’s Group. Outside of work and volunteering, she enjoyed hosting large meals for friends and family and will be remembered for some of her favorite dishes. Patricia also loved going to the beach and decorating her house for the holidays.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Chapel of the Donaldson Funeral Home Chapel 313 Talbott Avenue Laurel, Maryland 20707. The funeral service will immediately follow starting at 1:00 PM. Interment will then follow at the Ivy Hill Cemetery in Laurel, MD. A gathering with food and refreshments will follow the interment at the Community United Methodist Church of Maryland City at 300 Brock Bridge Road, Laurel, MD 20724.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her name to the Community United Methodist Church of Maryland City.
