Patrick F. Quill, lifelong resident of Laurel, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016, at the age of 67.
Born January 11, 1949, Patrick, or “PQ” as he was known to his friends, is survived by his sister, Elizabeth L. ”Missy” Quill, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John T. and Elizabeth P. Quill, as well as his brothers John T., Jr., Charles P., and David M. Quill.
Pat graduated with the Laurel Senior High School Class of 1967. Following his graduation, Pat served with the United States Air Force, stationed in Hawaii during the end of the Vietnam War.
He worked in the family business, John T. Quill Plumbing and Heating, and then broke off to start several home improvement and property maintenance companies, including snow removal and lawn maintenance.
He had a love of life, surrounded by many friends. Baseball, especially the Baltimore Orioles, was his passion. He always looked forward to the Orioles opening day at Memorial Stadium on 33rd street and at Camden Yards on Pratt Street. The fall and winter were occupied by his love for the Washington Redskins. In between was NASCAR, cooking and gardening. He had a group of squirrels he “adopted” in his yard, and the small critters would only come to him. Pat followed the family interest in thoroughbred horse racing, and had a lifelong love affair with his Corvette, antiques, music, the Chesapeake Bay, and his Irish heritage.
Pat was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and enjoyed attending the Laurel Historical Society’s Annual Gala.
Pat leaves behind his longtime companion, Diane Hamm, of Severna Park, MD and many dear friends.
