Priscilla Joyce Nixon, 83, passed away suddenly June 13, 2013. She was born September 20, 1929 in Rochester, New York to Donald and
Maud La Flamme. After graduating Rochester High School, she worked as an executive secretary for Rochester Telephone. In 1952, she moved to El Paso, Texas and was employed as an executive secretary for a department manager at General Motors. While in El Paso, she met her husband and best friend of 53 years, David Nixon. They were married July 10, 1959 and lived in a number of locations in the U.S. before deciding to settle permanently in Laurel, Maryland in 1966. Priscilla was the proud mother of two children, Mark Nixon of Odenton and Cynthia Nixon of Philadelphia. Priscilla had many accomplishments in her life in which she and her family took pride. Jobs she held included dental surgery assistant, color consultant, and realtor. While working full-time she earned an associate's degree in Business Administration from Prince Georges Community College. Priscilla was gifted artistically and excelled at painting, weaving, cross-stitch, crocheting, and quilting. Her love of family led her to pursue the hobby of genealogy which was a passion she pursued for over twenty years. She was physically active and enjoyed square and round dancing, gym workouts, and daily long walks. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Margaret Leatherwood. Survivors include, in addition to her husband and children, two grandchildren, Reid and Susannah Nixon of Odenton, sisters Kathleen Goodman of Dover , Delaware and Carol Conklin of Texas, brother Donald La Flamme of St. Vincent, New York, daughter-in-law Heather Nixon and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She will always be remembered by those who had the good fortune to know her as an industrious, intelligent, and dependable woman who excelled at everything she undertook and who was respected and deeply loved by her family and friends.
