On April 9th our beloved Retta Ann Kinner (Ables) who was affectionately known as Mimi passed away peacefully at the age of 79. She was born in Braxton County West Virginia as the daughter of Harper Carpenter and Floda Mae Hawkins with six other siblings where she was known as Jean Carpenter. During her childhood, she spent all of her years in West Virginia. She would later leave West Virginia to attend college in Maryland.
She successfully completed her Associate’s degree in Business Management while attending Prince George’s Community College. Her working career consisted of working with different financial institutions as a Banker. In her leisure, she enjoyed walking on the beach, playing bingo, going to the casino as well as gardening and vacationing with the family in Chincoteague Island, Virginia. She also enjoyed shopping and thrift store browsing.
She was an avid redskins fan and enjoyed watching baseball. She never missed a home game as a season ticket holder of the Washington Redskins. Those who met her know of her loving spirit and kind heart. She was a delight and a treasure to all of her family and friends. She will surely be missed and leaves a void in the hearts of many.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Nancy E. Coakley (Ables) and her son Jeffrey Scott Ables along with her husband Jack A. Kinner. She leaves behind to cherish her memories Steven Ables, of Upper Marlboro, md, Erica Kozee, of Upper Marlboro md, and karl Kozee of Leonardtown md, along with four grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
