Born in Port Jervis, New York on April 9, 1930, passed away on June 5, 2015. After receiving a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Manhattan College, he joined the Department of the Navy as a civilian employee, retiring from the Senior Executive Service after a long and successful career. After retirement, he moved to Homosassa, Florida where he continued to indulge his love of the water whether boating or swimming laps in the pool. Always active, he played hand ball for most of his adult life and took up tennis upon moving to Florida. When he wasn’t on the tennis court, he could be found on his bike enjoying long rides through his neighborhood or along the bike path to Tampa. He volunteered at the Homosassa Springs wild life park as a tour guide, served as a guardian ad litem and also volunteered with AARP, providing tax preparation services. He lived in the Dallas, Texas area for a short while before returning to Maryland in 2011. He was predeceased by his wife Edna but not before celebrating forty nine years together. Dick is survived by his children, son Brian Frey, daughter Lisa Warwick and her husband Max, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Carly, who he cherished immeasurably. He was loved and so appreciated by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and an ever present smile. Our family extends deep gratitude to the wonderful staff at Copper Ridge that cared for him with immense love, dignity, and respect. A memorial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Copper Ridge Employee Appreciation fund, or a charity of your choice.
