Richard A. (Dick) Smith, Jr.
March 21, 1952 — January 5, 2015
Richard A. Smith, Jr. “Dick”, a resident of Laurel since 1976 passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He was 62. He was born on March 21, 1952 in New York to Richard and the late Hilda Smith. He graduated from Augustinian Academy in Carthage, NY in 1970 and went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY. He retired from GAO after 32 years and went back to work as a consultant for SCC. Dick was a member of the American Legion Post 60, and enjoyed bowling, playing golf, and softball.
Dick is survived by his high school sweetheart of 40 years Jo Ann Smith; two sons Michael Patrick and AJ Smith; sister Christine Cobb; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 from 6-9 pm at DONALDSON FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD 20707 where a memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10 am.
