Richard Greenberg

Dr. Richard D. Greenberg, 79, of Laurel, Maryland, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025 surrounded by his family.

He was born March 28, 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Benjamin and Natalie Greenberg.

Richard graduated from Northeast High School and Albright College. He then graduated from Thomas Jefferson University Medical College in 1973.

He established a prominent and respected psychiatry practice in Washington, D.C. that spanned over 40 years. Richard was a Lifetime Fellow of the American Psychiatry Association. He was a frequent speaker and author on important issues impacting the practice of psychiatry. He retired from his practice in 2015.

Richard enjoyed traveling with his loving wife Laudelina, attending musical theater, reading historical books about World War II and the Civil War, and watching the Baltimore Orioles as a season ticket holder. Most of all, he loved spending time with his two sons, his two daughter-in-laws, and their five grandchildren. Even with a busy medical practice, he never missed a baseball or basketball game played by his sons.

He is survived by his wife Laudelina Greenberg and their two sons, Eric Greenberg and Jason Greenberg and their respective spouses, Joanna and Jessica; five grandchildren – Charlotte, Benny, Luke, Julia, and Olivia; and his brother Paul Greenberg.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 31 at St. Mary of the Mills Church located at 114 St Marys Pl, Laurel, Maryland. A viewing will be held at 10:00 am which will be followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.
