Richard Joseph Lyons

A memorial celebration for Richard Joseph (Bud) Lyons will be held at Resurection Of Our Lord Catholic Church on August 17, at 11 a.m. Bud passed away suddenly in May 2012.

Born April 8, 1955 in Washington, D.C. to Victor and Angela Lyons, Bud grew up in Palmer Park and Laurel, Maryland, and graduated high school from Arundel Senior High in 1973. He spent two years at Towson State College. Bud was talented in the arts and loved to sing, play guitar, draw, act and write. He was an avid reader, from fantasy novels to westerns. He was involved in St. Bernadette's Parish and Pasadena Theatre Company, acting, singing and giving technical support from 1979- 1989. He worked at C&P Telephone Co in Baltimore City from 1979-1989. He moved to Goose Creek, South Carolina, where he met and married Lesley Lyons in 1992, and then moved to Nashville, Tennesee where he stayed until returning to Maryland in 2010. Bud also enjoyed working retail and loved his job in Nashville as a master bear builder at Build A Bear, entertaining and bringing joy to children. He also worked for the State Highway Administration, while in Nashville.

Bud was preceded in death by his father, Victor Lyons and mother Angela Lyons, and a loving dog companion, Chelsea. He is survived by four sisters, Victoria Lyons, Patricia Rentz and husband Ken, Angela Bryan and husband Kerry, and Lorraine Scheib and husband Randy, and seven nieces and nephews. He will be especially remembered by long time friend Rick Lorentson. Arrangements made by Donaldson's Funeral Home and interment will be private.
