Robert Charles Alt

Robert (Bob) Charles Alt, age 82, passed away on March 5, 2016 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Columbia, Md.  He was born and educated in Philadelphia, Pa.; he attended a vocational high school where he learned the printing trade.  In 1959, he applied for a position as typesetter for the Washington Post.  This became his main occupation until he retired in 1984 with 25 years of service.  Bob was a member of the CWA/ITU for over 60 years.  He was a member of the Masonic Daylight Lodge No. 14, F.A.A.M. and Mount Pleasant Chapter No. 13, R.A.M., both located in the District of Columbia, for over 60 years; and a volunteer at Laurel Regional Hospital.  He played golf and enjoyed sports of all kinds.

Survivors include his wife Lorraine of 62 years, children Richard Alt and Sandra Alt Loppatto; grandchildren Richard Alt II; Brittany, Kevin and Kelsey Loppatto; son-in-law Gregory Loppatto and daughter-in-law Donna Lee Alt.

A memorial service will be held at Donaldson’s Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, Maryland 20707 at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23rd.  You are invited to a repast at the Red Hot & Blue, lower level, 677 Main Street, 20707 following the service.
