Robert M. Parish, beloved father and grandfather, passed away on November 8, 2014. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 24, 1928, to the late James and Katherine Parish. Bob graduated from The English High School, America's oldest high school, in Boston in 1946 and then earned a Bachelor of Science degree, in history and government, from Boston College in 1952. He moved to Laurel in the mid 1950's and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Laurel Garden Club, Knights of Columbus and was a leader for Boy Scout Troop 259. Mr. Parish was a veteran of the US Navy and was employed by the National Security Agency as a crypto-analyst until he retired. He is survived by his daughter Carole Anne Turner and her husband Roger, son Jeff Parish and his wife Cecilia as well as his grandchildren Alec Turner, Maxwell Turner and Sarah Grace Parish. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Friday, beginning at 12 noon. Interment will be held in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the National Federation of the Blind at nfb.org.
