Robert Lee Whitman

Robert Lee Whitman, 85, of Land O’ Lakes, Florida, passed peacefully on April 30, 2018, surrounded by family and friends at the Baldomero Lopez State Veterans’ Nursing Home.

He was born in 1933 to Harold Chase Whitman and Lillian Kelley Whitman in East Orange, New Jersey.

Bob was a member of Presbyterian Church and a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired from a long successful career with the National Park Service, where he provided his senior administrative skills and also served for a time as the Assistant Superintendent at New River Gorge National River, in West Virginia. He enjoyed the outdoors from the mountains to the sea and was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his loving wife Bonnie, sons Robert, Jr., and Douglas, daughters Laura and Jennifer, 7 grandchildren and 7 greatgrandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his first love Elinor, parents, twin brothers Harold and William, and sister Annona.

A Graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA 22172 with military honors.
