Roberta Hilt Fancher of Laurel, Md. died on April 15, 2026. She was 75 years old. Born on February 2, 1951 to Merceita and Robert Hilt, Roberta spent her youth in Kentucky, graduating from Waggoner High School in Louisville, KY in 1969 and later obtaining her bachelor's degree from Kenyon College in Ohio in 1972. Roberta returned to Kentucky to further her education and earned her master's degree from Murray State College.

She found her calling being a teacher, where she spent the rest of her life and career having a positive impact on her students. She taught in the Archdiocese of Baltimore and Washington with her last two schools being at Mackin Catholic High School and Archbishop Carroll High School. She finished her teaching career at Potomac High School in Oxon Hill, MD.

Roberta is survived by her sister, Mary Jo Jacobs and nephew Charles Fancher. She also leaves behind many dear friends including Sheryl DeWalt and Patrick McGee. She is predeceased by her husband, Richard Fancher.

A visitation will be held at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, Md. 20707 on Thursday, April 23 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A memorial service will be held the following day, Friday, April 24 at 10:30am at the Mowatt Methodist Church, 40 Ridge Rd, Greenbelt, MD 20770.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Laurel Cats or the American Heart Association.
