Rosemary Byrne

October 31, 1928 — February 16, 2017

Rosemary Byrne passed away peacefully on February 16, 2017, from pneumonia after a brief illness. She was 88 years old. Rosemary was born on October 31, 1928 in Sharon, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Thomas and Rose Buckley Byrne, of Sharon PA, Youngstown, Ohio, and later, Washington, D.C. Raised in Youngstown, Ohio, she was the fifth of six children. Her siblings were Tommy Byrne, Margaret Byrne Harden (Harvey Harden), Rita Byrne Gill (Frank Gill), Betty Byrne Rudbeck (Carl "Rudy" Rudbeck), and Jack Buckley (Marie Buckley), She had three nieces and three nephews. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings and her three nephews, Frank Gill,III, "Buddy" Rudbeck, and Tommy Buckley.

She is survived by her three nieces Beverly Rudbeck Lloyd Flynn, Patti Gill DiGiovanni, and Roseann Buckley Hyvarinen. She had seven great nieces and nephews: David Lloyd (Kara), John DiGiovanni, Jr. (Amanda Krawchuk), Michael DiGiovanni (Michelle), Patrick DiGiovanni (Kara Borton), Diana Hyvarinen (Peter Cardenas), Kelsi Hyvarinen Teegarden (Tyler), Alisha Buckley and nine great, great nieces and nephews.

Rosemary moved to Washington, D.C. in December of 1945 with her parents. She was employed by The C & P Telephone Company for 29 years. From 1995 until 2010 she lived in Waldorf, MD, with her sister Rita Gill. In 1995, she moved to Berlin, Maryland to be near her niece, Beverly Flynn. In November 2016 she had moved into Regency Park  Assisted Living in Gambrills, Maryland. She passed away at Hospice of the Chesapeake in Pasadena, MD.

Her family will have a Roman Catholic graveside service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Aspen Hill, MD on Friday March 3, 2017 at 1:00 PM, with Monsignor Karl Chimiak officiating.
