Ruby Theolyn "Lynn" Carmen died on April 19th at Laurel Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Known by "Ruby", "Lynn" or "Sister", (being the only daughter born to the late James Theo and Ruby Barrow of Vienna, GA on September 19th, 1938 She left her home in Georgia at 17 years old to come to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where she worked for a total of 34 years before retiring as an Analyst. Once in Washington, DC, she met, and soon married, the love of her life, Frederick (Fred) Carmen. It proved to be a wonderful choice for both, as they celebrated their 52rd Anniversary last October. In addition to Fred, she leaves behind a son, Fred, Jr., his wife Jennifer, a daughter, Karen Arnaiz and her husband, Jim, six grandchildren, Lindsey, Andy, David, Shannon, Tyler and Jimmy. She is also survived by brothers, Jim Barrow and his wife, Eva and Doug Barrow and his wife, Audrey, as well as her sister in law, Jan Carmen. Her brother, Bobby Barrow, preceded her in death. Perhaps the biggest single thing that Ruby leaves behind is a legacy of love, a true gift for her family to pass on for generations to come.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD. Services will be at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 8603 Contee Road, Laurel, MD on Thursday, April 23r, 2015 at 10:00 AM. The family requests that anyone wishing to remember Ruby do so by making a charitable contribution in her name to the organization of their choice.
