Russell "Russ" Rowalt

Russell S. Rowalt "Russ" died on April 14, 2012 at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia. He was 79. He was born on October 29, 1932 in Clayton, Ohio to the late Elmer and Ethel Rowalt. He graduated from Bethesda High School. He served in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. He worked as a Truck Driver for Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab for 19 years. Russ was a member of the American Legion Post 41 in Silver Spring and Life Member of the VFW. He enjoyed playing pool and the guitar.
Russ is survived by his wife of 28 years Barbara Ann Rowalt; daughter Brenda Rowalt Shellehamer and his grandchildren Micheala, Hayley, Cynthia and Randy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 2815 Jessup Road, Jessup, MD 20794. Burial will follow at George Washington Cemetery in Adelphi. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 11331 Amherst Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20902.
