Ruth J. James

Ruth J. James, a resident of Laurel, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, MD.  She was 88.  Ruth was born on March 5, 1929 to the late Buford A. and Ollie K. Ivester in Greenville, SC where she was raised.  She was a longtime resident of Plattsburgh, NY before moving to Maryland 4 years ago.  She enjoyed crochet, reading, and playing bingo.  She had a love for the Yankees and caring for plants, especially African violets.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard B. James; 3 brothers and 1 sister.  She is survived by her 4 loving daughters Linda B. Armstrong of Connecticut and her late husband Jack, Kay F. Peabody and her husband Duane of Laurel, MD, Ruth Palmer Grant and her husband Paul of New York (and her first husband, the late Mike Palmer), and Patty Ring and her husband David of Maine; and sister Imogene Turner of Greenville, SC and her late husband David.  She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
