Sally Anne DeSavage age 85, passed away in Laurel, MD on Monday, 8/22/22.
Born October 8, 1936, in Norwood, MA. Daughter of Nicholas and Kitty (Mohan) Curran. She lived in Norwood, MA, graduating from Notre Dame Academy in Roxbury, MA in 1954. After high school, Sally attended the Katherine Gibbs Business School in Boston, MA. In March of 1959, Sally met the love of her life, Bernard (Bernie) F. DeSavage at a ChiRo play in Walpole, MA. They were married on Sally’s birthday, October 8, 1960, at St. Catherine’s Church. In Sally’s youth, she worked for her parent’s store, the Guild Variety Store in Norwood, MA. Bernie and Sally moved to Maryland in 1960, eventually finding their home in Laurel, MD, where they raised their family. Sally worked at Wild and Wooly, then for Chevy Chase Bank in Laurel, MD until retiring in 2000. Sally was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Burtonsville, MD. She was very involved at the church, working in the office every Monday for many years. She blessed others at the church with her wonderful birthday treats, tailored to each person’s special request.
Sally enjoyed knitting, quilting, baking, cooking, traveling, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She made every holiday special for family, delighting them with her culinary treats.
Sally is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Sellner; son, Kenneth DeSavage (Judy); brother, Nicholas Curran (Eileen); 6 grandchildren: Christina Andrews (Terry), Sara Cross (Jason), Melissa DeSavage, Robert Beatty, Brian Spates, and Logan Spates; 4 great grandchildren: Rory Andrews, Carrick Andrews, Harper Cross and Marivella DeSavage; 3 cousins: Mary McAuliffe, Julie Palmieri (Mike), and John McAuliffe (Eileen); nephew Ted Curran (Leah), and 2 great nephews: Edison Curran, and Nico Curran.
Sally was as preceded in death by her husband, Bernard F. DeSavage; daughter, Janet Spates and grandson, Eric Sellner.
