Sam T Ferruzza

Sam Thomas Ferruzza, age 98, of Laurel, MD, died November 5, 2016. Born September 2, 1918 in South Fork, PA, he was the son of Sicilian immigrants Mariano Ferruzza and Concetta Mary LaRocca.

Preceeded in death by parents and: brothers James J. married to Annie L. Rusk, also deceased; Angelo E. married to Dorothy V. Finley; Joseph J. married to Rosemary V. Jackson, also deceased; sisters Josephine M. married to Bruno Policicchio, also deceased; Anna M. married to Curtis L. Amigh, also deceased; and grandson-in-law Brian E. Ayers.

Survived by wife of 71 years Violet E. Tubbs of Laurel, MD, daughter of Manley Noble Tubbs and Esther Arvilla Messenger, both deceased; sons Thomas M. of Titusville, FL, married to Melanie S. Pillar; Paul A. of Longmont, CO; Ronald G. of Morrison, CO, married to Carol S. Camillo; and daughter Sheryl A. of Ellicott City, MD, married to Dennis I. Ayers. Also, survived by sister Mary C. of York, PA, married to Henry J. White, deceased.

Survived also by seven grandchildren: Gregory T. Ferruzza of Orlando, FL; Kristina M. Ferruzza of Pollard, GA, married to Billy J. Garrett; Leah A. Ferruzza of Centennial, CO, married to Jason C. Jones; Devin G. Ferruzza of Morrison, CO; Jessica R. Ferruzza of Longmont, CO, married to Jessie J. Knight; Amanda P. Ferruzza of Titusville, FL; Alex P. Ferruzza of Oklahoma City, OK, married to Mary Byrne; and eleven great grandchildren: Tyler T. Ferruzza of Orlando, FL; Hunter and Brianna Knight of Longmont, CO;  Anthony C. and Blaine C. Jones of Centennial, CO; Chase R. and Nicholas J. Garrett of Pollard, GA; Jayden T. and Camille S. Ferruzza of Titusville, FL; and Christopher T. and Audrina Ferruzza of Yukon, OK.

World War II veteran with 3 ½ years service in the Army Air Corps. Worked as a Personnelist with the U.S. Federal Government for nearly 40 years in various agencies, including: War Department; D/Army; FHA; NOAA; HUD; D/HEW; D/Energy; and D/Labor. Also served as a personnel consultant to various Maryland municipalities, including: Bowie, Greenbelt, Havre de Grace, Glen Arden and Seat Pleasant. Member of the American Legion, Post 60, Laurel, MD and St. Nicolas Roman Catholic Church of Laurel, MD where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Nov 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD. Visitation will be held at the Donaldson Funeral Home, PA. 313 Talbott Avenue Laurel, Maryland 20707, where family and friends will be received on Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM     In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite domestic charity devoted especially to care of the poor and hungry.
