Samuel Akuffo, age 66, passed away in Joppa, MD on Sunday, December 31st 2023.
Born March 3rd, 1957 in New Tafo Akyem Abuakwa in the eastern region of Ghana, the son of Opanyin Emmanuel Kofi Kuma Anim and Madam Janet Abena Ohenewah. He lived in Joppa, Maryland and worked for the US Army for 27 years, retired, and worked in various government agencies. He retired from the Communications Electronics Command (CECOM) in July 2023. During his military service, he received numerous awards and medals including but not limited to the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal (5th Award), Army Achievement Medal (5th Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Southwest Asia Service Medal w/ Bronze Service Star (2nd Award), Continuous Honorable Active Service / Service in Saudi Arabia (1990-1991), Service in Iraq (2003-2004), Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal (AFSM), Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3rd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4th Award) / KU-LIB Saudi Arabia & Kuwait, Driver and Mechanic Badge. He also completed 15 years of Federal Civilian Service, along with many more unlisted awards.
In addition to his many achievements within the military and his employment, Samuel was hard working, motivated, ambitious, and a craftsman who enjoyed watching Soccer, loved watching CNN, Family Feud, Shark Tank, and was also fond of gadgets and computers. Additionally, he loved political and religious conversations. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who will be missed by all who loved him.

Samuel Kojo Akuffo is survived by wife Vivian Akuffo, Children - Felix Akuffo, Maxwell Akuffo, Linda Akuffo (Daughter-in-law), Duane Akuffo, Melody Akuffo (Daughter-in-law), Jeron Akuffo, Jackie Akuffo (Daughter-in-law), Shealynn Akuffo, and Brandon Reed (Son-in-law); Grandchildren - Tevarus Akuffo, Theophilus Akuffo, Margaret Akuffo, William Akuffo, Tairon Akuffo, Elijah Akuffo, Collins Akuffo, Jahleel Akuffo, Vivian Akuffo, Hassan Akuffo, Madison Akuffo-Brown, Messiah Akuffo-Reed; Great-Grandchildren - Ashanti Akuffo, Amari Akuffo, Rihanna Akuffo, Eva Akuffo, Mya Akuffo, Brooklynn Akuffo; Siblings - Akosua Addobea Nkwaata (Deceased), Frank Ayisi Moore (UK), Emmanuel Richard Asare (UK), Okatakyie Nana Anim (Ghana), Beatrice Anim (US), Samuel Baah (Ghana), and Alex Ampofo (US). Samuel Kojo Akuffo was preceded in death by his Father, Opanyin Emmanuel Kofi Kuma Anim ; Mother, Madam Janet Abena Ohenewah ; and older sister Akosua Addobea Nkwaata.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 20th, 2024, at 11am at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD 20707, with a visitation one hour prior. Interment to immediately follow the service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD, 20906. Relatives and friends are welcome for the repast at 1316 Emmaus Court, Joppa, MD 21085 on Saturday, January 20th, 2024, from 4pm to 9pm.
