Sarah Elizabeth Hensley Battles

Sarah Elizabeth Hensley Battles, age 39, of Laurel, Maryland went to the Lord on Thursday 10 November, 2017. Sarah was born in Iraklion, Crete, Greece to military parents Sue Reed Hensley and Jessie J. Hensley. Sue and Jessie are long-time residents of Laurel, MD. Sarah worked for several years as a Special Education teacher at high schools in the Maryland/DC area. She has worked in retail jewelry and furniture sales in the Maryland area.
Sarah is survived by her husband of 16 months, Howard “Bo” Battles, III of Laurel, her parents, her sister Melissa Hensley of Glen Burnie, MD. and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles in Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia and Maryland. She is survived by two God-children, Joshua and Kirstin, who are the children of her long-time best friend Kristin Adams-Jones. Sarah is also survived by her Shar Pei dogs Blue and Bear, who provided her great joy and love.
Sarah attended Bond Mill Elementary, Martin King Middle School, Laurel High School (Class of 1996) and University of Maryland (BA 2003). Sarah loved soccer and made several close friends playing soccer at the Laurel Boys and Girls Club and Laurel High School. She was a fan of University of Maryland sports and Washington Redskins Football.
