Sarah Ann Wilkerson

Sarah Ann Wilkerson was born on February 27, 1924 in Mecklenburg County, VA to the late Jim and Bertha Newton. At 11:43 pm on Monday, May 27, 2013 she departed this life at Gilchrist Hospice Center, Howard County Maryland.

Sarah was educated in the Mecklenburg school system. She then moved to the state of Maryland where she worked at the University of Maryland. Accepting Christ at an early age, she became a member of the Cherry Hill Baptist Church. Sarah was faithful and continued her walk with God, as she fellowshipped at the First Baptist Church of Highridge, where she ultimately became a member. She then married Arthur Lee Wilkerson. To this union, was born five children who she loved dearly.

Sarah took on a hobby which all that knew her found hilarious. On any given Friday night you would find her tuned into the WWF Smack Down Wresting weekly program. Sarah took great pride in her monthly beauty rituals, as she maintained her beautiful polished nails and toes. Her hair was meticulous and perfected, not a hair out of place.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted children, four daughters, Ruth Odom, Jeanette Kelly, Geraldine Carter, Shirley Jackson, one son Rev. Henry L. Wilkerson, one daughter that proceeded her in death; Sarah Mae, one daughter-n-law Deborah A. Wilkerson, nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
