Shirley Jean Morris Carroll

Shirley Jean Carroll (Morris) passed away peacefully on June 23, 2024, from complications due to Alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT) deficiency. Her dedicated and loving husband Mike was by her side throughout her journey. Shirley was born on March 19, 1945, in Danville, VA to Bennie Aubrey Morris and Catherine Colleen (Moore). Shirley and her brother Ben Jr. were raised primarily in Durham, NC. Shirley attended nursing classes and became an LPN. She worked in the healthcare field in different positions for many years.

Everyone who knew and loved Shirley will undoubtedly have fond memories of good times along with the love and genuine care and concern she had for everyone she knew. Shirley loved gardening and spent many years creating a beautiful oasis in her yard that she, her family, and friends enjoyed for many years. She had a creative mind that found her delving into so many artistic and natural projects. Everything she created was amazing and beautiful, including her handmade cards which she crafted with care for the individual she was creating them for.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents and her daughter Angela Gail Secrest (Randy). She leaves her loving husband Michael David Carroll, brother Ben A. Morris Jr. (Lisa), son Timothy Duane Parker (Angela), grandchildren Catherine Colleen Parker, Christina Gage and Robert Hardin (Katie) in addition to a large network of extended family and friends.
