Sonia R. Lott

The following obituary was submitted with love by the family of Sonia R. Lott.

Sonia Marie Rodriguez Lott was born on May 6th, 1947, in Middletown, Pennsylvania.  The oldest of two children, her younger brother Dennis Lee Rodriguez shared loving parents in mother, Dorothy Mae Baker Rodriguez and father, Charles Cesar Rodriguez.  The family spent their early life in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania then Middletown, Pennsylvania.  Sonia represented the Blue and Gold as a Class of 1965 Middletown Area High School Blue Raider and developed a lifelong friendship with gal pal, Mary Rhinesmith.

By the time Sonia was in her mid-20s, she had moved to the Washington, DC area where she began her 30-year federal government career with The Department of The Navy then the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).  It was at her part-time job in D.C., however, where she met and eventually  married the love of her life, James R. Lott, Sr.  They continued this love affair for over 50 years.

Sonia was a lover of music, reading, turtles, fancy perfume, and eating out.  She spoke to everyone she encountered and often made friends wherever she went.  Her inquisitive nature, boisterous laugh, infectious smile, and giving nature to countless charities will never be forgotten.

While Sonia took her final breath on June 28th, in her final days, she was surrounded by the unyielding love of her husband, James and daughters, Carla J. Jackson, Jamie R. Lott, and Samantha L. Hawkins.

Sonia is also survived by her bonus son James 'Coe' Lott, Jr. and daughter, Sheryl Lott-Scott., her grandchildren, Corey, NaTanya, Ashley, Bryanne, Brendan Jada, Paige, Lloyd, Jordan and Jalenchase, and lastly, her great-grandchildren, Caleb, Jayla, Cadence, Jaxon, and AJ.  Not to mention, the many additional extended-family and friends she impacted throughout her beloved life.
