Stephen F. Macadoff

Stephen F. Macadoff, 59, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 14, 2012 after a long battle with lung cancer.

Steve was an Assistant Professor at the Community Colleges of Baltimore County (CCBC) for a number of years. In 2010, Steve was awarded the General Motors ASEP National Instructor of the Year. Steve attained a Masters of Arts in Instructional Systems Development from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 2008.

Steve received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1980 and graduated from Laurel High School in 1971. Steve started working at the age of 11 at his parent's service station, Laurel Exxon, at 801 Washington Blvd., Laurel, Md. He went on to become a Master Automotive Technician and Master Craftsman working for several dealerships including Capital Cadillac, Frankel Cadillac, Rosenthal Cadillac, and Lustine Chevrolet. Steve then went into teaching auto mechanics at the General Motors Training Center in Virginia, the National Institute for Automotive Excellence, AC Delco, and the Maryland State Penitentiary, teaching prisoners a trade prior to their release. Steve then began his career at CCBC, where teaching was his passion.

Steve's hobby was karate, where he earned his 5th degree black belt in taekwondo and taught adults and children for years. He was an avid hunter with his cousins, friends and children. He enjoyed making homemade wine to share with his family and friends, and coached several of his children's sports teams. Steve attained 3rd degree with the Knights of Columbus.

Steve is predeceased by his parents Stephen and Catherine, brother-in-law Richard Robert and numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins in Maryland and West Virginia. Steve is survived by his wife Sandra (Sandy) and his children Rachael, John Ross (JR), and Katrina, and his sister Mary Jo Robert, all of Laurel, Maryland, along with an abundance of family in MD and WV. He is also survived by his beloved dogs Mina and Maverick and niece Emily.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gilchrist Hospice Care in Columbia, MD or the Lung Cancer Research Foundation.

A memorial visitation will be held at Donaldson's Funeral Home located at 313 Talbott Ave., Laurel, MD, on Friday, October 19, 2012 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm with the Rosary at 8 pm. A Catholic mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi at 8300 Old Columbia Road, Fulton, MD 20759, on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at 10:30 am followed by a luncheon at St. John's Hall in St. Francis.
