"Sue," “Susie,” Della Marie (Mahan) Crockett of Laurel, Maryland, died Monday, August 12, 2024, following a hospitalization for post-obstructive pneumonia. She was born on January 22, 1943. Sue spent her childhood and most of her adult life in Laurel. She was 81 years old.
Sue was predeceased by her sisters Judy Madison (1940–2017), Frances Fischer Bean (1925–1997), Dorothy Fischer (1929–1948); brother Louis Fischer (1927–1970); mother Blanche Merson Fischer Mahan Dovet (1906–1980); and father Elbert Mahan (1907–1951).
Sue is survived by her sister Sally Gourley; sons Eric Erickson, Chris Erickson, and Carl "Joe" Erickson (Michelle); grandchildren Ian and Suzanne; and many nieces and nephews.
In 1958 she married John Erickson and their three boys were born over the next eight years.
Later, she spent 16 years working at Lakewood Country Club, where she met her second husband, Brian Crockett.
Sue always enjoyed traveling to Florida to spend time with her sisters and their families, and to Arizona to see her beloved grandchildren (and their parents). Her home was filled with photos, cards, and other mementos of family and friends. Those who loved her will forever cherish the memories of wonderful times spent together.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 28, at 2:00pm, at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. 313 Talbott Ave, Laurel, MD 20707.
Sue’s cremated remains will be buried at Ivy Hill Cemetery with her parents at a later date.
