Swain Stewart

Swain Stewart was born on June 19th, 1964 at St. John’s Hospital, Brooklyn, New York to Johnny and Edna Mae Stewart.

At an early age Swain was baptized at the Ebenezer Baptist Church of Brooklyn, NY under leadership of the late Reverend Thomas Harrison where he also served as a dedicated usher.  Swain was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America.

Swain was educated in the New York City Public School System and graduated from Murry Bergtraum High School for Business Careers in 1982, where he was voted most popular male.  With this same charismatic personality and infectious laugh, Swain continued his education at SUNY at Farmingdale where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical Science in 1986.

Swain served in the United States Marine Corps at Parris Island SC Camp Lejeune in 1982.  He continued his service in the Reserves until 1988 at Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn, NY.  He left the Marines as a (E4) Corporal.  Swain believed in the institution of marriage and was married three times.

Swain exhibited a great love for motorcycles, dirt bikes, flying airplanes and video games.  He was well-known on the “DJ” circuit as “Silky G.”  He had a gift to research any subject he found of interest.  He also had a love for carpentry, remodeling and interior design.

From a young age, anyone who knew Swain knew he and his sister, Victoria were the dynamic duo of practical jokes.

Swain was a man of many jobs.  His last place of employment was with Amazon.  It was during this time that he fell ill.

As a result of his illness, Swain quietly slipped into eternity on April 23rd, 2019.

He leaves to cherish his memory seven children; Ashanty, Endira, Maulik, Jahi, Swain (SJ), Arianna and Rihanna Stewart.  His sister Victoria Renee of Brooklyn, NY.  His devoted companion, Wendy Gaitwood of Laurel, MD and a host of cousins he grew up with as siblings.  Two best friends, Jay Lewis and Marvin Reed, and his three favorite little cousins who he nurtured; Carolyn, Chatarra and Quineakwa as well as an innumerable amount of people who loved and respected him dearly.
