Sylvester (Wess) E. Seymore passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, May 30, 2026, after suffering a long illness of Parkinsons disease. His battle lasted over 8 years, and he fought it every step in true Wess fashion.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janet (Henschke), three children Anita and husband Steve, Scott and his wife Debbie, and Jamie and his wife Theresa. Wess had 4 grandchildren he adored; Cameron, Rowan, Jordan, and Evan. Wess is also survived by his mother Henrietta, brothers Dennis, Jerome, and Andrew, Sisters Julie and Christy as well as many nieces and nephews.

Wess was a 1966 graduate of Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown, Pa., and moved on to graduate from Electronics Institute of Harrisburg. He was employed as a computer technician at Univac/Sperry/Unisys for 52 years.

In his free time, Wess was an avid tennis player, competing in both singles and doubles matches through the Maryland and DC area for many decades. He also owned a contracting business remodeling and reselling homes.

Wess resided in Laurel, Maryland for 49 years and was a member of the St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church.

His family would like to thank those who took care of Wess through Gilchrist Hospice and those in Columbia Care Home who treated him like family (and a King) and provided his family with love and support as well.

Contributions in Wess’ name can be made to Gilchrist Hospice in Columbia, Maryland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 12, 2026, at 11am at St. Joseph the Worker church, (Bonneauville) Gettysburg, Pa. a reception will be held at the social hall immediately after cemetery services. A celebration of Life will be held in Laurel, Md, at a later date.
