Terry Coleman Hyatt, 75, of Laurel, Maryland, passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 25, 2025.
Terry was born in Dothan, Alabama to the late Sara Alice Campbell Hyatt and David Hyatt and was preceded in death by his siblings, Randall Hyatt and Alice Green. He served proudly in the U.S. Army as a Military Police officer, achieving the rank of Sergeant. His dedication to service and leadership continued throughout his life.
After his military service, Terry spent 23 years as a Facility Coordinator at Computer Science Corporation, where he retired in 2012. He was a respected colleague and a committed worker, always putting others first.
Terry was a devoted husband to his wife of 49 years, Ruth Ann Hyatt. Together, they raised two daughters, Terri Ann Douglass (Chris) and Tamara Lynn McGillin (Andy), who were the pride of his life. He was also a loving grandfather to Christopher James Douglass, Zachary Douglass, Caroline McGillin, and Courtney McGillin.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law Mary Humphreys (Mike), and many nieces, nephews, and extended family, including William T. Tippet (Wendy), Emma Tippet, Justin Green, Stasia Hyatt-Gilbert, Kristina Serdula (Kevin), and Sara Green.
Terry was known for his kindness, sense of humor, and ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. His family, friends, and colleagues will deeply miss his steady presence, kind spirit, and the warmth he shared with all who knew him.
A private memorial service to celebrate Terry's life will be held later this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Wounded Warriors foundation and/or to the American Cancer Society.
