Thelma "Betty" Sterling

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Thelma Betty Sterling, a longtime resident of Columbia, MD who passed away on November 6, 2022 at the age of 88. She was born on January 8, 1934 in Mitchellville, Maryland.

Betty is described by everyone as a wonderful caring person with a big heart. Betty touched so many lives and was always willing to help others. She raised not only 8 children, but was also very involved in the care of her grandchildren as well. She was the fun grandmother (known as Mee Maw), always spoiling her grandchildren. She loved her weekend trips to the Amish country and her trips to Florida and California with her family. Betty also spent a lot of time with her daughters on the weekends shopping, having lunch and just being one of the girls. Her main priority in life was her family. Her children were her life and she proved that every day with her warm and loving heart.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Edward Paul Sterling and daughter Nancy Clark (Gregory); She is survived by her loving children Linda Melton, Cathy Miller (Bill), Eddie Sterling (Brenda), Greg Sterling, Mike Sterling (Gail), Roger Sterling (Tara), and Pamela Eslin (Robby); cherished grandchildren Tabatha, Niki, Carla, Stacy, Michael, Christie, Mary, the late Eddie, Mark, Justin, Greg, Laura, Anthony, Jeanna, Jennifer, Sammi, Megan, Cassidy, Brian, Nicholas, Clint, Ashley, Kayla; She is also survived by many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She will be forever missed.
